Excitement and nervousness were the words that best described the atmosphere among the Miss Caribbean UK team as we headed to the Broadway Casino , Birmingham, for the first of four national heats of the Miss Caribbean UK 2016 pageant!
Excitement, because we were starting again with a fresh set of individuals to get to know and guide on their Miss Caribbean UK journey.
Nervousness, because this year we were not organising the Birmingham heat! We had given our 2015 contestant the opportunity to event manage the MCUK heat in their separate UK regions and Miss Natina-Mae Whitter had agreed to take charge of Birmingham heat.
However, when we arrived, we were not disappointed. The space that Natina secured from the goodwill of the management of the Broadway Casino, was absolutely fabulous and the hospitality of the staff; excellent. A really nice chill out zone.
Our fabulous judges on the night have experience of a wide gamut of skills in the community and entertainment sectors: Tash Tash (The model), Miss Caribbean UK’s reigning queen Amy Harris-Willock, Krisina Jagpal (Model) and Merisha Stevenson (Radio Personality).
Entertainment was provided by host Reisz Amos, singer Tina Harrison (singer), and fashion show by Devon Johnson with his models: Philisha Harding, Maria Le Bele, Sharon Cranston and Alexandra Reid. The music for the night was provided by DJ Tunji.
Birmingham ladies represented! Candidates performed exceptionally well on the night. Three contestants were chosen; and will be in the final, with a chance to be crowned Miss Caribbean UK 2016.
Lorell Boyce - 28 representing Barbados
Georgette Pratt – 27 representing Bahamas
Jodie Hodgson – 28 representing Barbados
