Gernice finds interest in fine art, athletics and public health. She enjoys helping those around her and making a difference as this has been the main reason why she had decided to go into the healthcare sector.
Entering and becoming a finalist for the Miss Caribbean UK pageant has been one of her biggest achievements thus far. As it has enabled her to step out of her comfort zone and challenge herself. Whilst watching previous years of Miss Caribbean Gernice has expressed her love for the community that had been formed by the women on stage as they celebrated their culture and heritage in which she knew that it was something that she wanted to be a part of.
As a finalist Gernice has started an online series which looks at the many different herbal remedies and foods used across Jamaica sharing what she knows and what she has learnt about the benefits of each one. She has gained great achievements such as being elected as the Vice President of the black pharmacy initiative. This is an organisation that helps to support black excellence and to strive for representation in her field of study and furthermore supporting her platform which looks at the under-representation of black people.
As your Miss Caribbean UK 2020, Gernice will continue her journey in learning more about her culture. Studying pharmacy she has always had a fascination with health and also how natural foods can improve this. Coming from a country where foods are used as medicinal products she will be reaching out to herbalist across Jamaica to continue to learn more about the many different benefits of the plants, trees and fruit that grow across the country and to share this with others during her reign. She also thrives to help out in the Caribbean community here in the UK and back home in hospitals providing care to patients.
